The first two modules of day three look at corporate politics and develops an understanding of it.
The context of political decisions is illustrated with a political game. We then discuss how to achieve success by applying it in a constructive way. This work takes some of the research undertaken by Robina Chatham in this area and in particular examines how successful managers made it to the board.
We look at the two drivers of political performance and how this affects peoples behaviour. This work is backed up with a case study called ‘The Run-away project’.
After lunch we explore other aspects of politics, including influencing and networking. The influencing work is based on leading sales techniques, trying to identify multiple problems in a business environment. By segmenting these issues and resolving them separately, delegates learn how to identify and separate political from personal issues in the background and resolve them effectively.
The final part of day 4 looks at the importance of building networks and uses unique techniques developed by IT Leaders to map out our individual networks, highlighting areas that might need additional work and development. We end with a short and light-hearted look at some political games that people play in organizations.
