IT Leaders: Coaching for IT Professionals

Many companies find significant benefits in using experienced coaches. IT Leaders’ experienced coaches can assist senior IT executives in their new and existing roles and guide them to take on the next level of responsibility. Our coaches come from many different disciplines and have coached executives at the highest level. Coaching partnerships take many forms - some of our clients look for their coach to act as a sounding board, some as a traditional coach. The role is important and set to meet the needs of the client.

Our coaching programme is centred on getting to know the executive and understanding the outcomes that are to be achieved. We take time to understand the background and the current issues that need to be addressed before providing high quality coaching, enabling clients to develop skills and achieve results.

We work with individuals and teams to strengthen team spirit, providing better understanding of each of the team members and work through a number of motivational case studies.

Our coaching method follows a ‘best practice’ and proven 3-stage method developed by Dr Robina Chatham, visiting fellow at Cranfield School of Management:

Stage 1

  1. Understanding what outcomes you want to achieve through coaching
  2. Gaining an appreciation of current issues / problems and providing ‘quick fix’ advice

Stage 2

Stage 2 includes a psychometric assessment, for which we use up to three techniques:

  1. FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Orientation - Behaviour) - This instrument explores the way we behave in relation to other people and the impressions we create
  2. MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Step II - This instrument explores our style, i.e. how we do things and how our approach differs from that of others.
  3. What is really important to me? - This instrument explores our innermost values and drivers, i.e. what is most important to us in life
  4. With this understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, your aspirations and how others perceive you, we can work with you to identify areas for personal development and growth

Stage 3

  1. Starting work on your personal development plan as identified in Stage 2 using the approach identified in Stage 1
  2. Providing guidance/tools to help with the resolution of any long term issues/problems
