We start the second day with a look at the most common strategic frameworks used by successful companies and examine those aspects of strategy that are key to performance. We then work on some case studies of international organizations whose IT strategies are a key source of differentiation.
The second and third modules look in more detail at a thought-leading process for developing IT strategy. Our starting point is the clear definition and understanding of our current position. We look at the key techniques to get the real facts and data, including the pros and cons of benchmarking and how to canvass accurate and useful feedback from the users in the business.
The third module looks at the future position. We look at different techniques including scenario planning to examine the options available to better understand possible outcomes. From this, we also look at key performance indicators and targets to measure success.
From the delta between the current and future states, we look at developing high-level strategic plans. The penultimate stage is the final positioning statement that is clear, coherent and complete but with no overlap. We finish with the final and perhaps most important stage, communication to the organization.
